No Savings In Preventative Care
From the Washington Post, Study Raises Questions About Cost Savings From Preventive Care
…Using data from long-standing clinical trials, researchers projected the cost of caring for people with Type 2 diabetes as they progress from diagnosis to various complications and death. Enrolling federally-insured patients in a simple but aggressive program to control the disease would cost the government $1,024 per person per year — money that largely would be recovered after 25 years through lower spending on dialysis, kidney transplants, amputations and other forms of treatment, the study found.
However, except for the youngest diabetics, the additional services would add to overall health spending, not decrease it, the study shows… (more…)

HR 3200 Does Include Illegal Immigrants
President Obama called the claim, that illegal immigrants would be eligible for coverage in current House legislation, from critics of health care reform a myth, and said that idea had not even been considered. From the Washington Examiner, Obamacare won’t cover illegal immigrants? Yes it will, says Congressional Research Service
Well, Mr. President, that idea must have been tucked under a stack of background briefing papers over there in the corner of the table because the Congressional Research Service (CRS) says this about H.R. 3200, the Obamacare bill approved just before the recess by the House Energy and Commerce Committee chaired by Rep. HR 3200 Violates Taxpayer Privacy
From CBS News, Democratic Health Care Bill Divulges IRS Tax Data
Section 431(a) of the bill says that the IRS must divulge taxpayer identity information, including the filing status, the modified adjusted gross income, the number of dependents, and “other information as is prescribed by” regulation. That information will be provided to the new Health Choices Commissioner and state health programs and used to determine who qualifies for “affordability credits.” (more…)
